How an emergency callout proceeds

• You call — dispatch answers around the clock and asks a few clarifying questions
• We give phone instructions on how to shut off the water or heating immediately
• The nearest available crew heads out and gives an estimated arrival time
• On site we stop the leak or clear the blockage, then explain the cause
• We agree what else needs doing: pipework repair, video inspection or jetting

What we can do on site immediately

The emergency van carries shutoff valves, fittings, a drain auger and leak-detection equipment, so most emergencies can be brought to a safe state on the first visit. If needed, we put in a temporary fix and schedule the final repair for the next day, so water can come back to the building sooner.

For a recurring blockage or hidden leak we recommend following up with a video inspection or leak detection, otherwise the actual cause remains and the emergency repeats.

What affects the scope of emergency work

The scope of work is determined by the location of the emergency (exposed pipe, wall, floor, basement or outdoor main), the time — a night or holiday callout — and whether access to the shutoff valve or manhole is available. In an apartment building, coordination with the association or management company is also needed to shut off the riser.
