Mixer tap replacement

We replace

Good to know before replacement

If the old mixer is very old or the connections are limescale-clogged, the angle valves may also need replacing. We state this upfront, and the necessary extra parts are usually already in the van.

Most common reasons for replacing a mixer

• The mixer drips even when closed
• The lever is loose or won't hold its position
• The thermostatic mixer no longer holds the water temperature
• A wish to replace an old mixer with a more modern one

Repair or replacement?

If the problem is a worn cartridge or seal and the mixer itself is in good condition, replacing that part is often enough. If the housing is limescale-clogged, the thread is damaged, or the mixer is so old that spare parts are no longer available, installing a new one is the more reliable solution.

How the replacement proceeds

• We shut off the water at the angle valve or main valve
• We remove the old mixer and check the condition of the connections
• We install the new mixer with the necessary seals and hoses
• We turn the water back on and check for tightness and water temperature

Apartment, private house or business premises

In an apartment, keep in mind that water may need to be shut off from the riser if the angle valve no longer holds. In a private house shutting off is simpler, but an old building may have non-standard threads. On business premises — a café or salon — we prefer to replace the mixer outside peak hours so the work doesn't disrupt customer service.

What affects the scope of work

• Whether a sink mixer, bath mixer or concealed mixer is being replaced
• Whether the angle valves hold water or also need replacing
• Whether the water can be shut off in the apartment or the riser needs shutting off
• The condition of connection threads in an old building
