Bathtub installation and replacement

We replace a bathtub even when it's boxed in behind tiled edges and it seems impossible without renovation. We connect the drain and mixer and seal the edges properly.

  • Call-outs around the clock
  • Price confirmed before the work
  • An honest assessment of the problem

How the installation proceeds

  • Disconnecting and removing the old bathtub
  • Installing the base and legs, levelling
  • Connecting the drain and overflow
  • Mixer installation
  • Edge sealing and water test

Tiled bathtub without renovation

If the tiles stay on the wall, we can often remove the old bathtub and install the new one without breaking the tiles — we assess the situation on site and tell you honestly whether this is possible.

What to think through before replacement

  • The new bathtub's dimensions and weight — whether the floor and support frame can bear the load
  • Whether the drain and overflow location suits the existing pipework
  • Sealing allowance at the edges if the tub stays partly under the tiles
  • Mixer type and location on the tub edge or wall

Apartment vs. private house

In an apartment the drain location is usually fixed and the new bathtub has to be chosen to match it. In a private house, where the pipework can be changed if needed, there's more freedom in choosing the bathtub's size and location.

What affects the scope of work

  • The bathtub's type and weight and whether a support frame is needed
  • Whether the old tub is boxed in behind tiled edges
  • Whether the drain and overflow fit the existing pipework
  • Whether the mixer is also being replaced at the same time

Frequently asked questions

Can the bathtub be replaced without breaking the tiles?
Often yes, if the tiles stay on the wall and the tub edge is accessible. We assess the situation on site and tell you honestly whether it's achievable in that particular bathroom.
Do you take the old bathtub away?
We disconnect the old tub and remove it. Removal from the site can be agreed separately.
Can I install a shower enclosure instead of a bathtub?
Yes, if the drain and floor slope can be made suitable for a shower. In that case we also assess the drain location together.
