Why a line fault can stay hidden
A leak underground doesn't show itself immediately — the water seeps into the ground. The first hints are a higher water bill, a drop in pressure, or the ground above the line sinking. In that case we carry out a leak search and then the repair.

Connections for houses, apartment buildings and businesses
A house's outdoor line is usually shorter with a simpler connection; for an apartment building the line often crosses several properties and involves more parties; for a business, it's important that the interruption stays as short as possible so operations can continue.
Permits and approvals in general
Building a new line or relocating an existing one often affects neighbouring properties and the public network, so the location and connection must be approved in advance. We help plan the route of the line and carry out the construction work; the specific permits and approvals are usually arranged by the property owner together with the relevant authority.
What affects the scope of outdoor line work
Scope depends on the length and depth of the line, the pipe material and diameter, the ground, and what's above the trench — lawn, paving, asphalt or a road. It also matters whether the fault is at one point or the line is worn out throughout, and whether other utility networks are nearby, requiring part of the work to be done by hand.
Emergency repair and planned line replacement
The goal of an emergency repair is to restore the water quickly and limit the damage: we find the leak, open only the necessary section and repair it. A planned replacement means the worn-out line is replaced in full at an agreed time — this makes sense when the same line has already leaked repeatedly.
Frequently asked questions
- How do you find a leak underground?
- We start with a pressure and consumption check, then use leak-detection equipment and, if needed, a camera survey, so we dig exactly in the right place rather than along the whole line.
- Does the whole line always need to be replaced?
- No. If the pipework is otherwise sound, we only repair the faulty section. We recommend a full replacement when the line is old and faults keep recurring.
- Do you restore the ground above the trench?
- We backfill the trench layer by layer and restore the ground to the agreed extent. Restoring asphalt or paving is agreed separately.
